Finally back to some Q&A. Obviously some time has passed since these questions have been asked. I will have to dig deep to remember how I felt about some of the topics, but I will do my best. Here we go. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amy: Were you worried about being labeled as sick and people treating you as infectious?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

No, I don’t think I did really worry about that. I tend to not focus too much on what I think other people think about me. Whether that be how I look or how I behave. I mean initially from the outside no one would be able to tell that I had cancer. I looked much the same except for a bit more skinny and no energy, but I’d still smile and look happy. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a few weeks of chemo, my hair started falling out. Now, I had long hair and a bushy beard at this time. Almost a years worth of growth. \ud83d\ude42 So the hair and beard came off and I did look quite different. I guess at this point it became more real to some close family, as they could now see the classic chemo bald headedness. I was expecting it so didn’t really phase me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This wouldn’t be the first time I’ve gone from long hair to short hair. To be honest, the previous time I did this was quite interesting. I had long hair for quite a while and then cut it military-style short, without any explanation to workmates. I found the stories that went around work quite amusing. Some seemed to think I was joining the military, others thought I got arrested and spent the weekend in jail. I just let people think what they want and don’t let it worry me. If someone actually spoke to me about it, they would find out that all I wanted was some change. \ud83d\ude42 Also if they think that cancer is infectious then I’d try to educate them politely. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n
