This post is a little different to what you may have gotten used to. But I’d like to try something here. I want to have a Questions and Answers post. What I need you guys to do is, ask me a whole bunch of questions, and I’ll do my best to answer them. So if you want to know anything about my cancer journey, how I stay positive, what I do with my days, or what I did before I had cancer or what I would like to do in the future, ask away. I’ll be as transparent as is appropriate for a public post, I want my kids to be able to read these as well, I know they do. Other wise I can reply in private. 🙂

I’m kinda putting myself out there, but I think this can have various useful applications, like learning more about myself by answering questions that you ask, that way I’ll actually have to think about the questions. Also I get to interact with my readers a bit more, I’d love that. And perhaps somewhere along the line I can help someone with something. 🙂

Now I know I get on average at least 10 visitors and 30 views every day, so I challenge you guys to come up with 50 questions by the end of Sunday New Zealand time. I’ll keep you guys updated on how we are going. 🙂

Lets do this! 🙂

You are Awesome.

Positively questioned, T Neil van Rooyen.

  1. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

And where do you see yourself in 10 years time?

  2. In the past you’ve had a few ideas of what you would like to do with your life in the future. After getting sick and dealing with things you never thought you’d have to deal with, having lots of time to think about what you want to do with your life, what would be your favourite choice for the future now?

  3. Hello…
I’m about to get quite deep, but I’m curious to hear your viewpoint on this.
I’d like to know what went through your mind when you got your initial diagnosis physically and emotionally / mentally? How you processed it all and where are you now on these fronts.
It’s very important to keep a positive frame of mind, and I’m so glad to see you are doing so well at it, but are there deeper thoughts and emotions still milling around and how are you dealing with those?
Hope I’m not opening a can of worms here.
Keep strong and conquer this… The world is waiting for you to make big changes.
    Lots of love and light.

  4. Great, thank you guys for your questions so far, there are some really good ones and I look forward to answering them. We seem to have six questions so far, however in the last two days there has been fourteen and eighteen visitors respectively. So some of you are still holding out on me. 🙂 I know there are more questions out there, forty four more to go by Sunday night. Come on we can do this. 🙂
    Stay Awesome. 🙂

  5. Hey Neil,

Hope you’re doing ok and staying positive!

    Here’s two:

If you could do anything in the world, no restrictions, what would it be?

How do/did you choose the people that you want or have in your life? Is there a running theme?

    Hugs,
    Raj

  6. How have the doctors been for you?

Do you feel the treatment you are getting is working?

    Stay strong man!

  7. When I found out I had melanoma I really struggled to tell my peers, I even didn’t tell most until after my surgery. How did you feel when it came to telling people?
Were you worried about being labeled as sick and people treating you as infectious?
Do you feel like your doctors treated you as a person or a patient?
Did you want to do anything radical after diagnosis?
Do you feel like it has made you treat people differently?
Has your feelings toward our healthcare system changed?

    All the best ☺

  8. This is fun!
    1. What quote makes you get out of the dark moments?
    2. What’s one comment that makes you want to smack someone over the head?
    3. What do you wish people knew most about you?
    4. What have you learnt about yourself that you didn’t know before going through this?
    5. What is one thing God has whispered to you?
    6. Have you considered a major career change as a result of this ‘journey’?
    7. Do you hate the word ‘journey?’
    8. What is one fearless thing you haven’t done that you want to do?
    9. What unbearable feelings have you faced and how did you not let them beat you
    10. If you were an object, what are you
    11. Are you going to write a book and if so, what’s it going to be on?
I’m looking forward to some answers ?

  9. Gosh, I’ve only just heard the news about this, so I have quite a lot of questions, some of them may seem obvious to those who’ve known about Neil’s cancer for awhile…

When were you diagnosed with cancer ?
Have you been given a time frame ?
How did you first feel about it and how do you feel about it now ?
How do your kids feel about it ?
Are you considering natural treatments… intravenous vitamin c ? Cannabis treatment ? Other proven natural treatments ?
Have you discarded chemotherapy and radiation therapy yet ?

My singer in my band is dying of cancer (stage 4 asbestos cancer) so I have been dealing with his condition and trying to accept it for the last year. This is the reason the band is doing our last gig, as he just won’t be able to perform live again… too much pain. Very sad and a huge concern for us in the band. He tried chemotherapy for 3 years including the extreme ‘hot chemo’ surgery and he hasn’t been able to beat off the cancer. Although he is on 3 types of natural therapy now, it may be too late, as the cancer is stage 4. If he’d not listened to his doctor and started the proven natural treatment 3 years ago, then his life could’ve been saved. Some of the band members are very angry with the doctor and condemn him ! Chemo doesn’t work most of the time (in fact it is not a cure, it only sends the cancer into remission). It also causes the patient to under go extreme pain and discomfort, so there quality of life is heavily reduced.

I’ll definitely have more questions for you later…

  10. Hay brother from another mother.

1/ So I always wondered the first though you had when you found out first you had cancer, two when they had the results from your scan, and you found out it was worse than they initially thought.

2/ How have you stayed so positive, how are you handling those moments where positivity has been drained?

3/ What is the hardest thing you have had to face going though this?

4/ From the get go. Many people have been praying for you, myself included, have you seen God through everything you are going through, is there any areas in particular?

5/ As we continue to pray for you, is there any areas that you would like pray for?

6/ when can we go for a fly!? 🙂

You are amazing bro, your positivity is so inspiring, you are standing face to face with that zombie bunny and you are refusing it control. And it is cowering in fear. (Ill have to send you something I wrote for this to make complete sense.)
    God bless you!

    Chris

Would you consider getting involved in raising awareness of cancer now that you have been diagnosed and are dealing with it?
And secondly, would you go help out and chat to or help “council” people who have been diagnosed and are going through treatment?
Chin up, keep positive and smile.
    It’s good for the soul.
