Another great day on this journey through the universe. š Here is one of the great questions you asked.
Rachael asks:
Why did you grow your beard so long, while you were waiting for a diagnosis?
Neil’s Answer:
The beard story, it goes a bit like this. I actually started growing my beard in October 2015. A few months prior I grew it out a bit, about 8 weeks worth, and then shaved. I quite enjoyed having facial hair and I have never grown a full beard before, so I figured I should give a full beard a go. I didn’t really have an end date in mind. I thought I’d just let it grow and see where it ends up. š
During January I had made some goals for the the end of 2016, which included leaving my job at the time. So I started telling everyone that I wasn’t going to cut my hair or beard, until I left my job at the grocery store. š That way I would have at least a Yeard (Year long Beard), which would have been October 2016.
The chemo unfortunately had other ideas by making my hair fall out left right and center, including the beard. It only really thinned but I wasn’t going to put up with cleaning up hair constantly for days or weeks or however long, so it all came off.
So the diagnosis didn’t really change anything, the treatment, did. š After chemo is all done and dusted, I will be growing another one. š I hope this sheds some light on your question. š
That’s one more question done, stay tuned for more to come.
Stay Awesome.
Positively, T Neil van Rooyen.
You do know that you look so much younger without all the hair?? lol ….. you are a handsome young man, don’t know why you want to hide it behind all that facial hair!! But at the end of the day, its your choice hey?? lol
Love you with and without! xx
Thanks for the answer! š
