Gratefulness, a way to positivity.

Being grateful is one of the most powerful motivators that I have come across. Some time ago I came across a website called Live Your Legend, also a blog. On there I read some really cool articles, one of them mentions some helpful daily habits. Real simple habits that changes your attitude towards the day and makes it better. I tried on one of these habits which happened to be, being grateful first thing in the morning. When you open your eyes, take a few minutes to think of some things that you are grateful for. No more than 5 minutes even just one will do, doesn’t have to be a big list, just the action of starting your day like that, changes your whole outlook for the rest of the day. I did this for some time and was amazed at the difference it made to my day. Every day I remembered to be grateful in the morning, was a good day. What I noticed was that when I start my day in a good manner, I remembered the rest of the day to be more positive. And positive leads to more positive, like a smile is contagious. Just like a single smile can make someones day, a single thought of gratitude can make your day.

Here is a list of some of the things I am grateful for at the moment:

  • Having wonderful parents, all of them. 🙂
  • Having awesome friends around me.
  • Having super children that worry, care about and love me.
  • Being in NZ where going to the hospital and being treated for cancer is free.
  • Getting the medication that I need for really cheap.
  • Really friendly and helpful hospital staff, where ever I needed to go for tests and treatment.
  • Having access to internet so I can blog, which allows me to learn about myself and share my story with all of you.
  • Being able to be on the sickness benefit so I can still pay my rent.
  • Having a nice flat to stay in.
  • Staying at my mums while I go through my chemotherapy.
  • Having an awesome phone so I can stay in touch where ever I go.

I could go on, but I would like to hear just a few things that you are grateful for. Also try the gratefulness in the morning trick, when you wake up, it costs you nothing and and you could gain so much.

Believe in yourself and stay Awesome.

Gratefully, T Neil van Rooyen.

  1. Yes i agree with your idea it will work, positive thoughts gives you a positive live. The thing is if you really go and sit and think and write it down you will sit a very long time, rather thank the Lord for all that he has given us and I’m sure you’ll have a good and positive life. I think opsticals is there for us to overcome them with his help and then to relise how small we are and become a better person. Love you.

  2. I too have many things I am grateful for, and in no specific order!
At night when I go to bed, I always say thank you Lord for my warm, comfy bed, even though it is old!
I am grateful for children and grandchildren who love and respect me
In the mornings I am grateful to have another day of my life, in good health and always thank the Lord for another day to spend with my loved ones.
I am grateful for food and clothes in my cupboards, God provides all we need!
I am also grateful that we have a warm, dry home we will one day call our own.
Also grateful to still have all my senses (and mostly my memory lol), sight, smell, hearing, taste and feeling. It must be very hard to lose one or more or all of these.
That’s enough from me, thank you for the good subjects you choose to write about every day, I look forward to reading the next one every morning!
    Enjoy your stay with us!
