Today was great, I woke with a good amount of “Get up and go”. Didn’t have the best sleep but that was because my brain was going a million light years per second. That in itself is a good sign. I spent some time at my flat instead of staying at “Mum’s Inn”. It was nice to see all my stuff again.
A quick update on some of my side effects, specifically the physical ones. The funny taste/feeling in my mouth is now gone, but I ate to many salt and vinegar chips yesterday, and today I can notice a little sore on the roof of my mouth. Now that sometimes happens anyway, but I have to remember not to eat half a bag at a time, no Neil NO, as my mouth is a bit more tender now.
Only one other side effect that is quite noticeable, over the past few days I have felt aches in my arms and chest, especially my left arm. I think my chest hurt due to the lack of motion recently, after my no energy days, and that has now passed. Left arm still has got a mean ache though. I checked with the nurses, and they say I don’t have to be concerned, and that if I’m passing by the clinic I am free to come in and they will check it out. So I may do that tomorrow, as I will be close by anyway. I haven’t taken any pain killers today, but I will before bed. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am learning to listen to my body, if it hurts, it’s hurting for a reason, and I like to know what’s going on. If I take painkillers every time I have a niggle I won’t know what’s going on. It would be like me saying: “Ok body, I’m ready to listen now, but before you talk, put this duct tape over your mouth.”
Other than that, no other side effects to talk about. Still got my hair. 🙂 Energy returning, and figuring out how this all effects me. The next treatment should be easier to navigate now I have an idea of what to expect and how my body reacts to the chemo.
That’s it for this update. Stay Awesome.
Positively, T Neil van Rooyen.
Hi Neil, good to hear that you are feeling better and it sounds as if you are allso a bit chirpy. I feel that it was a good idea to go to your place it would put your mind to rest and more relaxed. All sounds good stay positive. Love you.
So glad you are feeling so good after chemo, Neil. Keep up the positive attitude and keep on smiling. 🙂 You are in our prayers. God bless
Great blog! Been a good day today!
What a bummer that you have to curb the chip-eating splurge. Always something trying to take the smile off your dial! Now to dig out the non-dairy ice-cream. Hope the day continues to shine for you.
Love it LOL …. have to get some non-dairy ice-cream again, its just so darned expensive!
Hi Neil / 3rd July. Great day today, sun was bright but the air had a bite. It was good to see you walking with the children so your energy level is still holding. Love the long hair and beard.
Hope you are comfortable and resting and your mum has given you a non dairy ice cream in a cone.
